Blackberry Health Benefits

  • One serving of blackberries has 8 grams of dietary fiber.
  • The berries are high in vitamin C and also have vitamins A , E, and K
  • The berries are very low in calories. 100 g provide just 43 calories. They are rich in soluble and insoluble fiber (100 g whole berries consist of 5.3 g or 14% RDA of fiber). Xylitol is a low-calorie sugar substitute existing in the fiber content. It absorbed into the blood at a rate slower than glucose inside the gut. It, thus, helps in steadying blood sugar levels.lackberries are high in vitamin C.•

  • They contain moderate levels of the B-complex group of vitamins. It contains good amounts of pyridoxine, niacin, pantothenic acid, riboflavin, and folic acid. These vitamins work as co-factors for enzymes that help metabolize carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in the human body.

Blackberry Uses

Blackberries are quite versatile.  Use them in jams, jellies, sauces, cobblers, pies, fruit salad, mojitos, smoothies, craft beer, and our favorite - country wine!

Selecting The Best

Blackberries are best picked when fully black and all the "drooplets" are filled out.  There should be no red anywhere on the blackberry or it will be quite tart.
